There's something not right with the world. It's broken....I think looking at poverty, hunger, genocide, wars, theft, and the savage side of mankind will testify. We ,including myself, naturally contribute to the problem because we're broken too. We tend to push boundaries that don't fit our desires or comfort levels. We're selfish. Because we think of ourselves first instead of others it's very easy to hurt other people as a result of "helping" ourselves. Brokenness breaks people. I was thinking about all this and God gave me a picture of a crowd of people mingling, laughing and talking but everyone had a mirror in their hands and if I was to focus on any one set of people in conversation they were really focused on their reflection instead of the other person they were with. Everyone's a rebel in their own way. We aren't just innocent bystanders. So I believe the next piece I paint or draw will be about rebellion. The image of 2 people hugging but looking at themselves in mirrors behind the other persons back is strong and captivating to me. Rebellion: the lifestyle of brokenness.
